Blade, the helicopter charter company, was founded 10 years ago as a way for commuters going between New York and the Hamptons to avoid vehicle traffic. This May it is introducing a new service, the Hamptons Streamliner, that, starting at $195 a ticket, will take passengers to destinations on eastern Long Island aboard … a bus. Like Blade’s helicopters, seats on which start at $1,025, its buses are marketed as a luxurious option for Hamptons-goers. Seats can recline up to 45 degrees and passengers will be offered free refreshments like espresso martinis, PopUp Bagels and Sweetgreen salads as they make their way from Manhattan to stops in Southampton, Bridgehampton and East Hampton via the Long Island Expressway.

“Chrissie Evert commented on my serve,” Mrs. Wiggins said in the living room of her brownstone, where she and Mr. Astor, 59, were seated next to a crackling fire. “She said it looks like her serve.”Part of the accounts’ charm lies in her indifference to social media. Mrs. Wiggins, who was raised in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, met him when she was in her early 30s, and they were married for 61 years. “When my husband died, I was totally devastated,” Mrs. Wiggins said. “My whole life was him.” Referring to her social media accounts, she added, “My son started this, because he thought it would take my mind off the grief.”

A former journalist who began his career in newspapers and radio, Mr. Bleier was an innovator who foresaw industry-changing technologies and the need for fresh content to serve the emerging cable television market. At ABC and later at Warner Bros. Television, he gained a reputation for imaginative but also practical strategic thinking that helped usher in a new television era. From 1986 to 2000, he was president of a Warner Bros. division that developed basic cable networks such as Nickelodeon, MTV and The Movie Channel. As far back as 1961, while at ABC, Mr. Bleier saw a future for vintage Looney Tunes cartoons, animated shorts made by Warner Bros. and shown in movie theaters in the 1930s and ’40s. The move transformed Looney Tunes and similar cartoons into consistent profit-makers for both ABC and Warner Bros.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott speaks at the "Roast and Ride" event hosted by U.S. Republican Sen. Tim Scott huddled with over 50 donors at the Hamptons home of Wall Street veteran and former Trump administration official Frank Dunlevy on Wednesday night, according to people familiar with the matter. In fact, when CNBC reached out to Dunlevy before the party this week, he tried to dispute whether the fundraiser was at his house. Dunlevy lent his backyard to the official listed hosts of the Scott event, another person explained. Also attending the party was Gary Cohn, who served as director of the National Economic Council in 2017-18.

We met a big leaf magnolia, which produces the largest flowers of any deciduous tree in North America. Its blooms, as big as my head, smelled like a warm Southern evening. It is an ancient species, having evolved 95 million years ago, long before bees existed. Osage oranges evolved in tandem with the giant ground sloths that roamed the earth some 80 million years ago and considered its fruit a delicacy; the sloths died out about 10,000 years ago. It’s one of his favorite trees in the arboretum.

It may seem counterintuitive, but the pandemic was like a brief visit to Shangri-La for Wall Street. For the first time in years, Wall Street has to sing for its supper. A return to the office also means a return to more-classic Wall Street social norms. Wall Street, for all its highfalutin personalities and big paydays, is an apprenticeship system. For Wall Street, the heart of the pandemic was a moment to consider what life would be like at a slower, more-nurturing pace.

The Hamptons are facing a summer rental glut, with over 1,000 available in August as of Wednesday. Real-estate agents said an uptick in travel and lower Wall Street bonuses are behind the glut. A glut of available properties and sky-high rental prices are adding up to a slow summer rental season, worrying real-estate agents counting on tenant demand. The hot Hamptons summer rental market, it seems, has caught a chill. "I have a summer rental that's listed for $150,000 for a month and it got an offer of $80,000.

CNN —The recovery of wreckage from a private plane that crashed Sunday in Virginia, killing all four people onboard, after its pilot became unresponsive is expected to begin Tuesday. The unresponsive aircraft prompted the deployment of six fighter jets as it flew near Washington, DC, officials said. Six F-16s were launched from three bases and raced to intercept the private plane, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said Monday. Investigators are now examining the private plane’s autopilot function in the Virginia crash, a source familiar with the investigation said. Correction: An earlier version of this story gave the wrong source for information about the course taken by the private plane.

Martha Stewart’s sex-symbol era began anew in her late 70s, when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram emerging from her East Hampton pool and called it a “thirst trap.” Since then, the CEO and mogul has reinvented herself from bumpkin to bombshell, more likely to attend gala events in luxe Hermès outfits and full makeup than to plant bulbs in khakis as she did in the 1980s. Today, she’s come full circle in her late-in-life glow-up by becoming the oldest woman to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. “Is it a sex symbol, or is it a symbol of healthy living?” asked Ms. Stewart, 81, today. “We can hardly say sex symbol nowadays, right? Overt sex is kind of frowned upon.”
An oversupply of summer rentals in the Hamptons is spurring price cuts of 20% or more, as affluent Wall Streeters and tech workers cut back on their summer spending. Wall Street bonuses fell 26% last and several of the large Wall Street firms and banks, including Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America and Lazard, have announced job cuts. "The Hamptons is tied to Wall Street with an umbilical cord," Desiderio said. "When Wall Street is doing well, we do well. The one bright spot in the rental market, at least for owners, is at the very high end, especially oceanfront.
The average price for a house in the Hamptons hit a record $3 million in the first quarter, highlighting a shortage of trophy beach homes for sale and the resilience of wealthy buyers. The average sales price in the New York beach community jumped 18% in the first quarter to $3.1 million, according to a report from Douglas Elliman and Miller Samuel. The average price in the Hamptons is now more than $1 million higher than the average sales price in Manhattan. The high end of the Hamptons market is the strongest. In the luxury market — representing the top 10% of sales — both the median and average sales price broke records during the first quarter, with the average luxury price surging 33% to $16.1 million, according to Jonathan Miller, CEO of Miller Samuel.

Her refusal to “wear shoes that pinch—ever.” She mainly sticks to pairs with round toes.

Here's how Miller, who doesn't think the housing market is going to crash, became a beacon of trust. The call was from a journalist at an international paper asking for Miller's comment on the US housing market for a story. The 62-year-old founder of the real-estate-appraisal and data firm Miller Samuel is probably the most-quoted man in real estate, with some 2,469 news citations, according to the database LexisNexis. Today, Miller Samuel has replaced Scantrons with iPods, iPhones, and a CoreLogic appraisal software called A La Mode. Today, there's much more data than there was when he started Miller Samuel, but also a lot more "crap," Miller said.

The victory marked the starting point for what's become Smith's raison d'être to help as many student loan borrowers as possible. But of those who did, around 60% managed to get a discharge of some portion of their student debt, Iuliano found. And thanks to a widely-held belief that student debt is categorically exempt from discharge, few are willing to take that chance. "I have $50k student debt, no degree, was a victim of attempted murder, out of work, and homeless," reads another. Austin SmithEventually, he says, he vowed to make it his life's cause to help the student loan borrowers.
